About

Greetings!
I was born and raised in Russia, where at the age of 7, I was taken away by foreign languages and cultures. It all started with my older sister challenging me to repeat weird-sounding phrases in English and German (which, I believe, were her high school homework at the time). What meant to be a mocking of a seven-year-old quickly turned into an obsession and main passion that powered my commitment to foreign language classes and rebellion against “too-much-sense math” throughout school years. Less catastrophic results were my decision to get a degree in linguistics, move to the U.S., and getting hooked on Turkish coffee which turns me into a Translation Machine (not to be confused with Machine Translation).
In addition to that, I’ve taught English and Humanities courses residentially and online. My current project that I am passionate about is my own Translation Academy which will combine the best practices of Russian and American education systems. Oftentimes, my workdays are longer than an average person’s—and that’s when a pot of Turkish coffee does the trick!
With each translation project I undertake, I guarantee attention to detail, high-quality work delivered on or before a deadline, and prompt response to your phone calls and e-mails.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or proposals about translation projects, writing, or teaching opportunities.

Sincerely,

Olia Cotey.
